BREASTFEEDING

You can breastfeed anywhere in public in Italy. No one will complain or tut, like in some other countries. Italians marvel at babies and new mothers and are likely to give you a big smile. The only issue is that there is the occasional person who will stare a lot, but this is usually just in admiration and wonder at the beauty of motherhood. It is rare to find specific breastfeeding rooms in public places in Venice so if you want to nurse in private you will probably need to do it in your hotel or find a quiet corner somewhere. In the Activities page we mention museums that have a dedicated breastfeeding room.

insider tip

Near San Marco the most comfortable place to go is Ca’ Giustinian where there is a room for breastfeeding, changing nappies, and a soft play area.
