BAGNI ALBERONI
(lido)

This restaurant is at one of the many private beach clubs in Lido (you don’t need to pay for the beach-club to use the bar or restaurant). This is one of our favourites; the atmosphere is relaxed and it has an old-fashioned charm.  It is right at the end of Lido island in a tiny village called Alberoni. You can rent beach huts, umbrellas, and sun beds there during the day. They have a little bar for an aperitivo, as well as this restaurant on a deck by the sand. The food is great, it’s always crowded and relaxed. They sometimes have live music during the summer.

The grilled calamari is delicious, as well as the octopus salad. The antipasto di mare is huge and includes a delicious selection of typical local fish dishes. They also serve pizza and have a set menu for kids. Adults should order “gnocco fritto” as an appetizer; it’s deep fried pizza dough served with a type of salame and stracchino cheese. It is soooo good!

The bar is next to the restaurant and serves lighter snacks like grilled toasts etc.

FAMILY FRIENDLINESS

There is nothing more relaxing in Italy than having dinner (or lunch) at a beach restaurant. The kids are happy for hours playing in the sand or play area so you can enjoy your dinner.  Book or ask early for a table next to the play area as they go quickly. Bagni Alberoni is full of children and they have a kids menu (they can choose from a pizza or from a pasta plus a main course).

Go early and have a dip in the sea first. Note, though, that this is a beach restaurant so bathrooms are extremely basic and pretty dirty by the end of the day.

how to get there

You can get to Alberoni by car or bike if you are staying on Lido.

By bus: take bus 11 or A from SME Lido (just in front of the water bus station). The bus goes down the whole of Lido island. Get off at Alberoni. The beach is at the end of a long road.

From Zattere you can take the “Fusina” motor boat, yellow line (Venezia-Alberoni), but this only runs during the day – the last boat back is at 1900. See website for details. (From June to September the boat departs from Zattere at 08.45, 1045, 1245, 1615, 1815 and takes 40 minutes to get to Alberoni. Return journeys leave Alberoni at 0930, 1145, 1345, 1700, 1900)
