cantine del vino gia schiavi
(dorsoduro)

Già Schiavi is a small “cicchetteria”, where you can have lots of small cicchetti snacks with a Spritz, standing up at the bar. It is on a canal called Fondamente Nani, in a part of town called Zattere (where you can also go for a nice stroll along the walkway beside the lagoon overlooking Guidecca Island). They have a wonderful selection of snacks made with bread and topped with with “sarde in saor” (marinated sardines), artichoke pate, ricotta and squash, tuna, ham etc. They also make panini to order, with simple (but delicious) fillings like roast pork (“porchetta”) or salami etc.

INSIDER TIP

Sometimes Già Sciavi is full of tourists, but there is another small cicchetteria about ten doors down called Al Squero, which is also quite good.

FAMILY FRIENDLINESS

There are no chairs so you will have to stand either inside or outside next to the canal. Every child that we have ever taken here loves this place – they enjoy all the lovely little “cicchetti” snacks.  They don’t have a toilet but if you need to pee walk directly over the bridge and go into the small sandwich shop and order a coffee. Their toilet is lovely and clean (don’t use it without buying anything!)
