RENT A BIKE
(lido)

Less than 15 minutes from Saint Mark’s square you can find the wonderful Lido island. Lido is a long, thin island that separates the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. There are kilometres of beaches on one side and lots of green parks. It’s mostly a peaceful residential area but there is so much to see and do. It’s perfect for children.

There are lots of places where you can rent bikes on Lido and explore the island. You can hire anything from single bikes and tandem bikes to 2-4 persons four-wheel bikes. Lido has roads, cars, and just one traffic light! It’s relatively calm so you can pedal around and discover a variety of kid-friendly activities including playgrounds and beaches.

There are several bike rental shops around the main street, Gran Viale.

VENICE SCOOTER RENTAL

Venice Scooter Rental rents scooters, e-bikes, boats, and cars and can be found just off Lido’s main street on Via Perasato 6b (a few metres away from Maleti cafe). They’re open every day from 0900 to 1900. They have children’s bikes and baby seats, and bike helmets are included in the rental. From May 2019 onwards you can book online on their website: www.scooterrentvenice.com where you can also find some ideas for where to go on your bike trip.

For good, friendly service try Lido On Bike www.lidoonbike.it, which is just a 1 minute walk from the Lido water bus stop at the top of Gran Viale (details below). They have a well-maintained fleet of clean bikes of all sizes, including single and tandem bikes as well as family bikes that seat either 4 or 6 people. Prices include chain and lock.

Prices start from about €5 for 90 minutes for a single bike to €10 a day. Six-person pedal bikes are about €19 euros for an hour. Prices decrease the longer you use them for and they have lots of great offers if you are planning to rent something longer (daily, weekly rates etc).

There are two other bike rentals on Lido. Noleggio Biciclette Gardin and Venice Bike Rental.

FAMILY FRIENDLINESS

Baby seats are available to rent in most rental shops. Bike helmets are available for rental or purchase. In the summer make sure you have suncream and hats for your children because the sun is strong.

FEELING ADVENTUROUS?

Cycle all the way to the end of Lido and take the little ferry to Pellestrina.

For a more rural cycle in the lagoon you can also rent bikes on Sant’Erasmo island at Al Bacan.
