SAN GIORGIO BELL TOWER
(dorsoduro)

Just one stop on the water bus from Saint Mark’s square, this is a great alternative if you want to avoid the queues and crowds at Saint Mark’s bell tower. You take the water bus number 2 over to San Giorgio and enjoy a much quieter experience. We actually prefer the view from this tower because you can see over Saint Mark’s square as well as the rest of the lagoon. There is an elevator to the top and it’s quite fun if you are up there when the bells ring! The entrance to the church is free and the bell tower is extremely cheap – 3 euro.

FAMILY FRIENDLINESS

There are no queues and crowds so this is perfect for families. Around the area there are lots of spaces to run around (be careful of the water) and a lovely marina where kids like to look at the boats. In summer, lunch on the terrace at Rosa Salva is a great option with kids. There is an elevator up to the tower (so no stairs!)
