OSTERIA AL PORTEGO
(cannaregio)

This is a lovely, quaint place to grab a drink and “cicchetti” bar snacks – a traditional Venetian “bacaro” bar. It is quite cramped in the bar area; usually standing room only for a drink plus a couple of tables outside. However, if you can get a seat in the dining room they also do very reasonably priced food, with quick and friendly service. Great for a relaxed lunch. When its mushroom season they do wonderful fried porcini. It’s quite near to Rialto.

FAMILY FRIENDLINESS

I like going to these kinds of places with the kids because much of the food is behind a glass display so they can see what they want before ordering. Plus the food comes really quickly – great for hungry little ones. You can go next door to the amazing chocolate shop if you fancy something sweet after you’ve eaten. We usually just leave our pram in the small square outside.
