Parks, beaches, playtime, family-friendly museums & activities

Everyone (including us) loves the famous sites of Venice; Saint Mark’s square and basilica, Rialto Bridge, the Grand Canal! But there are so many other wonderful things to do with children. After five years here we are still finding new fun things every week and we never get bored. Did you know that Venice has lots of beaches? Did you know that you can swim in the lagoon? Are you bored of the crowds and want to explore somewhere a little more quiet or unusual? Here we will give you an overview of all sorts of activities that our kids enjoy in Venice and the lagoon. Importantly, we’ll also give you a review of the playgrounds, parks, and squares around the city. When we are travelling we find that our kids can get overwhelmed if we do too many museums or tourist attractions and it helps a lot to let them have a proper run around and play at some point during the day. One of the first things we look for when we go on holiday is the nearest park. Although Venice has a few playgrounds many kids just play in the squares (“campo”), so we’ll describe some of our favourite squares too. No matter how old your children are they will have an amazing time in Venice.
